This is my collection of my favourite works from this Semester's classes.
We did these artworks in class as an activity in using values in storyboarding. I was very happy with the contrast I achieved and I believe that the cloud effects though more of a comic technique, was very effective in the appeal of the pieces.
This piece was for a class exercise where we were tasked to draw the room we were in from whatever angle we were sitting at. I am happy with how it reads even though it is freehand and doesn't make use of exact measurements or ruled lines.
These pieces were for a class exercise exploring perspective and scale, we were asked to depict a tiny hotel so I decided to do it by using intense shading and dramatic perspective angles to highlight the extremity of the scale between the tiny hotel and the other objects.
This panel was one of three storyboard panels in a group activity where we worked together to convey a short story about a cowboy washing his clothes. I was very happy with the way I managed to use values to define the different layers of the image without doing time inefficient shading. It truly demonstrated what I had learnt in the values lesson.
This piece was one of my panels for the 2D animatic assignment. I included it in this shortlist since I was really proud of how I managed to centre my composition to highlight the character effectively.
This work was another piece for assignment 1, I included it because I believe that the mixture of dynamic lighting and line width give the image a sense of charm where a consistent line width would not.
This piece is one of the "copying the masters" activities that I really enjoyed in the in-person classes. I included it as an example of how I learnt to use line weight by observing how the masters had used it to great effect.
These 4 pages are my favourite pieces from the in-person life drawing classes. I believe they depict the nuances of anatomy and clothing folds that I picked up via careful observation during the sessions.
This piece is one of the panels from my 2.D animatic assignment that I included since I was happy with how I managed to convey a sense of depth of field even without the moving elements and gaussian blue effects.
